Off shoulders are an essential in my wardrobe – I love how it frames your body and gives a elegant and minimal vibe by showing just enough skin and details of your shoulders. I have so many different types of off-shoulders (!) and I really should stop buying them 😦
Nonetheless, today I’d like to share with you guys one of the easiest-to-wear off-shoulders that I have. Also, I explored some urban grounds for this shoot. Hope you guys like it!
When I first laid eyes on this piece, I knew I had to get it because 1. It’s a really puffy and loud balloon off shoulders which is really bold and different from the pleated off-shoulders that are in trend currently 2. There’s stripes. Stripes are always, always good. 3. It was on sale (hahaha).
Jokes aside, I really love the balloon sleeves of this top! It adds a playful vibe on top of the chic outlook, which makes it a really casual piece that is so easy to wear and pair. Also, I’m usually not a fan of elastic bands for tops because sometimes I feel as though it makes the piece look a bit ‘cheaper’, but the elastic band really just adds onto the shape of the top and gives off a (in my own language, which is a really weird way to describe this but hey don’t judge) ‘waterfall’ layer.
The material is really thin as well, so you can actually run around Singapore in this and you won’t be drenched in sweat! It’s kind of short to be a dress so usually I would wear a basic black shorts underneath and would tuck it in to create a more layered and puffy outlook.
For accessories, I paired it with my favourite choker from Sarah (!!!). I’m not sure if you can see it clearly, but it has a drawing of the cerebrum/brain (yay geeky med kid me) attached to a skeleton. I love her chokers because they’re not too overwhelming and loud, but they have a nice gothic vibe coupled with amazing drawings. And of course, since we’re already wearing stripes, having another 3 stripes from my adidas cap wouldn’t hurt ✌🏻
All in all, I really like this outfit! It’s so comfortable and hassle free and it has a slouchy vibe that doesn’t look too casual and dressed-down. The sleeves which are tapered towards the end makes the top look flowy but not too baggy. I rarely get balloon or flare tops like these because I’m worried I’ll end up looking too fat, but I really don’t regret getting this piece.
Hope you guys enjoy what you see and leave a comment to let me know what you think!
Side note: Med school M3 is so toughhhhh someone save me I need more sleep 😩 Been really busy with school but I am still thankful to be able to find time to keep posting. Hopefully things will get better from here on – things definitely will. Meanwhile, have a good week ahead you lovelies! See you guys at this place next week ✌🏻
