If you have a short body, relatively broad shoulders and a not-so-model figure like me, you would understand my immense fear of flare or A-line tops. Most of the time I would avoid tops or dresses with such cutting and in general, I would end up with straight cut and structured pieces. I never really found the need to try flare tops simply because I don’t think I can pull it off, and the end product isn’t flattering most of the time anyway.

However, when I saw this white Perry top, I was really attracted to how the flare falls so nicely on the model (and yes, sadly I’m one of those who sometimes gets deceived by how pieces look on those gorgeous models). I’ve always loved the crepe material and I’ve been wanting to try a piece with trumpet sleeves as well. So I courageously (and impulsively – just a little) went ahead to buy this top and this was how it turned out!

I loved it! Truth was although it was flare, it didn’t make me look fat. The subtle trumpet sleeves, V cut and double-lining down the center line of the top were my favourite details. As usual with crepe material, it was ridiculously comfortable. I paired it with a structured trumpet skirt so that it would kind of form a structured base for the flare.

Thankfully the top had a hidden slit at the side, so you could opt for a more chic look by tucking it in, which was what I tried as well.

Lastly, it’s time for layering. It was a rainy day so I decided to layer it with the Clara cardigan (which I wrote about in my previous post here). I would suggest going with a structured outerwear as compared to soft, flowy chiffon/cotton cardigans that most of us have as they simply add onto the flare – which may overdo it and make you look even bigger. On the other hand, structured outerwear/coats would help you form a nice frame and show the layers neatly. I also folded up the sleeves to show the contrast between the material of the pieces.

I didn’t feel much need to accessorise, so I went with my daily essentials – which was my Adidas watch, ceramic ring and added a clay necklace with pale pastel/monochromic tones.

So this is it and I hope you guys like the look this week! Please leave a comment to let me know what you guys think ✌🏻 Thank you for stopping by and have a blessed half-week ahead!
