Finals/summatives are finally over! Well, at least the theory papers are and the clinical exams are still a few days away. The past few months were gruelling and regardless of what the results are, I’m just glad that I made it through alive wheeee
Today I’m sharing with you guys some of my favourite local brands. Most Singaporeans hesitate supporting local brands because of misconceptions that they’re not as good as overseas brands or that it is not worth the money. For someone who is really hung up on aesthetics and quality, I actually frequent local brands and that says a lot. I hope to be able to open your minds to these lovely artists today!
I was deciding on what to wear out for studying, and I wanted to wear something really comfortable. The past few days were really rainy and I figured it was a chance to pull out my sweaters. This lovely “Unbalanced” sweater from alternate-f4 is my favourite and the most comfortable I’ve owned thus far, and it was perfect for a rainy day. I love the concepts behind all of their collections and pieces, how they translate the message into designs and I relate to them personally so much. Their designs are so unique and minimal but it conveys the message so well. This sweater is my go-to for so many occasions – be it on chilly days, dance etc and if you get it one size up like me, you could actually wear it around Singapore without getting too drenched in sweat. On a personal note, I can’t wait for their new items to be released! ✌🏻
I paired it with my staple black culottes and Nike air max for a more unisex/boyish vibe, and added my “Hallows” drawstring bag from Sarahthursday. Most of my friends know that I’m a huge fan of her lovely and detailed drawings and I’ve a huge range of her apparel – from notebooks, phone case, t-shirts, necklaces to stickers that are all over my laptop/planner/bottles. I literally own something from each collection she has because every single one of them is so unique and I am still madly in love with the items that I own!
To finish up, I combined my ceramic ring with my stacked rings to add some subtle details.
I hope this post has changed your mind slightly on local talents! Most of the time you can find them in local art markets eg. thelocalpeople or fleas eg. Publicgarden. The best thing is that they’re really humbled, friendly and lovely individuals too!
On a side note, holidays are coming in a few days and I’m so excited yay! I’ll love to take this time to learn from and collaborate with anyone who’s interested eg. photographers. If you like my content and don’t mind working with an absolute rookie like me, DM/email me or leave a comment below! ✌🏻 Have a good week ahead 🙂
